Goalless and cold, but Mitch wins award

EVO-STIK SOUTHERN LEAGUE, DIVISION ONE EAST
TUESDAY 1 MAY 2018
AYLESBURY 0 EGHAM TOWN 0

In what is probably a club first Egham Town played a league match in “extra-time” after recent and persistent weather related problems. With the home side safe in 21st place and the Sarnies in 16th, both clubs having had difficult campaigns, there was not much on the game save for Aylesbury rising three places should they win while Egham could have moved to 14th and reached 50 points. Both had conceded a massive 88 goals but defences held firm against lightweight attacks on an unseasonably cold evening. Josh Andrew fired in an early shot that was deflected onto the bar and Matt Nolan pulled off a decent save from a late long range effort, but goalmouth action was rare.
After the match a presentation was made to Mitch Wiseman (pictured), who was a comfortable winner of the Supporters’ Player Of The Year, recognition of his steady and unflappable contribution throughout what has been a tumultuous season.

A more complete report will follow.
