Includes brief reports on matches played so far

TUES 17: Abbey Rangers (away)
This was a good first match at the ambitious Chertsey club, with a large visiting squad a good sign that playing for Egham Town is an attractive proposition. Many of the squad were in action for the Sarnies last season, with some excellent additions. In the first half chances were few and there were no goals. Understandable defensive wobbles let Rangers in for the game's first goal, and the second was either very skilful or a fluke. Two goals in three minutes from Egham made the score 2-2.

SAT 21: Met Police (away),
Although Simon Lane's men went down 2-3 on an excellent Imber Court pitch, the work of the groundsman continuing the fine record for playable surfaces, there was a lot to be pleased about in this performance. Police's young squad took the lead with a fine solo run and finish by their No. 7. An accomplished finish from a young Sarnie midfielder soon restored parity. The home side were ahead at the interval; a header had hit the Egham bar but the ball was not cleared. When a shot came in a home forward was in an offside postion as the ball deflected in but the goal stood.
Half time changes reinvigorated the Sarnies and a second equaliser came after a good brek down the right and a decent cross being thumped in. A superb save by the Egham keeper was encouraging, but then one of last season's returners pulled up with a leg injury. Police went ahead again in controversial circumstances, the Sarnies left back being fouled as he advanced. The referee failed to award a free kick, Police broke and scored and another returner ended up seeing red for giving his version of events in a forceful manner. Despite that this was a very good runout for both sides preparing for the new season.

TUES 24: Hartley Wintney (neutral venue),
There is no point in fans making their way to this one as it is being held at Aldershot barracks. Unless you can get there with the squad you will not be likely to gain access.

THURS 26: Chertsey (away),

SAT 28: Edgware (away),

TUES 31: Harrow Borough,
This was to be a home game for us but has been moved to the home of the Middlesex FA at Rectory Park. The journey seems simple enough, down the A312 Parkway off the A30.

SAT 4 August: Aylesbury (away)
