Simon Lane is new Egham manager

EGHAM TOWN WELCOME NEW MANAGER

Egham Town today announced that there is a new man in the Runnymede Stadium manager’s chair. Simon Lane has been appointed after the club parted company with Chris Moore. Simon has joined the Sarnies having only just seen his former team, Northwood, draw 2-2 last Saturday with the Surrey side.
Simon is a vastly experienced coach and manager. After a playing career (Yeovil Town, Woking, Bath City, Hayes and Aylesbury United) cut short by injury Simon took to coaching from an early age and has held an UEFA “A” licence since 1998 when he was also club coach at Leighton Town.
He became the youngest Head Coach in European football when given the opportunity to take charge of Maltese side Naxxar Lions and then had his first non-League managerial role with Berkhamsted in 2003. After a successful spell as Windsor & Eton boss, Simon then spent three years as first-team coach at Conference South Maidenhead United alongside Johnson Hippolyte. In 2015 Simon was appointed as Manager and Director of Football at Wingate & Finchley in the Ryman Premier and enjoyed considerable success before departing the Summers Lane outfit in January 2016.Simon was appointed as Northwood’s manager in May 2017.
The new manager’s first match in charge of Egham Town will be at Bedford Town on Saturday. He will make home debut on Tuesday as the Sarnies face Hayes & Yeading United in the Evo-Stik Southern League East division. The Middlesex club won on penalties after a 1-1 draw last Tuesday in the bigfreebet.com Challenge Cup Third Round. Egham Town, who featured in the play-offs for the last two seasons, currently sit in 12th place, one ahead of Bedford Town, who recorded a 3-0 midweek win at Aylesbury United.
