Metropolitan Police v Egham Town

Egham Town got their pre-season underway on the 3G pitch at Walton Leisure Centre against Metropolitan Police and despite going down to a 1-3 loss will be fairly pleased with their overall performance. With a line up that drew heavily from last season's squad the first half was a lively and entertaining display from both sides, Town going ahead with a superbly struck 25 yard shot from Charlie McCarthy, returning to the Sarnies after a couple of seasons at Hanworth Villa. The Police levelled moments after McCarthy and Tom Hedges linked well for an opening that saw a Hedges's shot well saved, the men in blue breaking at speed and scoring with a thumping shot from the edge of the box.
The second half saw both sides do the usual shuffling of players, and the Police taking advantage of that to score twice more past Paul Borg.

I don't know all the players' names but the opening line-up was:

Paul Borg, Dan Hartlebury, Jake Galbraith, Matt Smith, Aaron Taylor-Ives, Alex Rodgrigues, Tom Hedges, Enrico Rossoni, Luke Muldowney, Charlie McCarthy, James McShane.

In the second half Tom Hedges' brother Louis came on in central midfield, there was a big new striker to accompany Brendan Matthew and Josh Guichard made his first appearance in an Egham shirt. Michael Carey was on the sidelines; he last played for us two seasons ago. There was also a centre back who came on after about an hour.

The next game is at Otford, on Saturday then we are at home to Ashford Town (Mx.) on 24 July.
