James Brown in hospital after shoulder dislocation

EL RECORDS PREMIER CHALLENGE CUP FIRST ROUND
WEDNESDAY 26 SEPTEMBER 2012
WARLINGHAM 2 (0) EGHAM TOWN 4 (2) (Played at Whyteleafe FC)
EGHAM TOWN SCORERS: Own Goal (9), Louis Chandler-Joseph (28), Jamie Houghton (72), Brendan Matthew (73)
Egham Town made progress to the second round of the EL Records Premier Challenge Cup, and a trip to CCL One side Sheerwater on Saturday 27 October, but not without problems. Midfielder James Brown was hospitalised after dislocating his right shoulder towards the end of the first half, adding to injury worries for new boss Lee Passmore, who was unable to field crocked winger Tom Hedges.
Warlingham had suffered a horrible loss earlier in the day, coach Ken Thurgood passing away after a period of illness. The crowd and players were united in a minute of applause in his memory before the tie kicked off in torrential rain. Nine minutes in Egham were gifted the opening goal as home centre back Christos Nicoli sliced a James Brown cross over his goalkeeping team mate Gavin Dilley. Enrico Rossoni provided a perfect cross for Louis Chandler-Joseph to head home his first senior goal for the club after 28 minutes. The half ended with the sorry sight of a clearly distressed James Brown doubled up in agony, his right arm hanging down, as he made his way towards the car park where he was taken by ambulance to hospital. It looks horrible – someone was able to post a pic on Twitter.
The second half was even in terms of goals scored, Warlingham pulling one back with a belter of a shot from Scott Robson, not long after Paul Borg had saved a penalty from Aaron Watson. Egham were hitting Warlingham on the break, and it bore fruit as Jake Galbraith set off down the left for a 1-2 with Jamie Read before laying off a perfect pass for Jamie Houghton to strike home from 12 yards. From the kick off Rossoni picked out Brendan Matthew for the sub to score with his first touch for a 4-1 lead reduced to 4-2 with a drive into the roof of Borg’s net on 79 minutes.
Egham entertain Epsom & Ewell in the CCL Premier on Saturday.
