First league draw for Sarnies

EVO-STIK SOUTHERN LEAGUE ONE CENTRAL
SATURDAY 14.11.15
EGHAM TOWN 1 (1) Bajram Pashaj (5)
BEACONSFIELD SYCOB 1 (1) Jack Read (30)

Egham Town resumed action after a two week, weather enforced break that has seen the Sarnies slip down to 4th. This draw, which took them up to 3rd was one from which they should perhaps have collected all three points.
An impeccably observed one minute’s silence preceded the match as the players and supporters showed solidarity with their French neighbours in the face of unspeakable, inhumane horror conducted by murderous, verminous cretins.
Egham took the lead in the 5th minute when Bajram Pashaj latched on to Guri Demuria’s underweight header back to his keeper, Brendan Hazlett, and found the net with ease. The expected progress did not happen, though, and after a period of midfield equality and both defences being stretched but not exactly tested the visitors broke on the half hour mark and constructed a move that ended with Jack Read making the score 1-1. Read was a danger again just before half time with a low drive that Jamie Norris saved with a diving stop at the foot of his right post. Almost immediately the Sarnies broke, Pashaj proceeding skilfully and creating an opening that saw Jake Cass’ effort blocked and Brendan Matthew’s follow-up held by Hazlett. Two minutes later Matthew’s advance towards goal opened up an opportunity the like of which he has been putting away so adeptly this season.
Beaconsfield wasted a chance early in the second period and Matthew underhit an early effort before Gary Meakin swapped Ollie Jones for the fleet footed Chris Henry. The latter’s speed opened up the visiting defence and from his pass Matthew laid the ball off for Cass but for the dynamic midfielder this was the first in a handful of attempts that failed to stretch goalkeeper Hazlett. Callum Webb drilled in a low cross that just needed a fellow Sarnie to prod home then at the end Henry’s free on the right found Reece Yorke at the back post. His header went across goal, where Luke Neville was not quite able to nod the ball home.
EGHAM TOWN: Jamie Norris, Saloman Hassan, Dominic Rhone, Reece Yorke, Luke Neville, Kurtney Brooks (Captain), Callum Webb, Jake Cass, Brendan Matthew, Bajram Pashaj, Ollie Jones. Subs: Mason Yorke, Tarome Hemmings (Webb, 82), Larry Boateng, Ryan Phillips, Chris Henry (Jones, 60).
