COMBINED COUNTIES LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
SATURDAY 15 SEPTEMBER 2012
EGHAM TOWN 0 (0) SOUTH PARK 2 (1)
There was a feeling of genuine optimism as Egham Town took on South Park, but the club was left in shock after the resignation after the match of management duo John Hamsher and Wayne Noad, apparently to take over a mid-table Ryman One South side. Egham were looking to cement their position at the top of the Combined Counties League Premier Division. With the addition of two good signings, defender Chris Ellis (who lasted 53 minutes before going off with a groin strain) and midfielder Jamie Houghton, from Windsor, the side Egham thrashed 8-2 on Monday, to the side the absence of skipper Arran Taylor-Ives (holiday) ought not to have mattered. There can, though, be no complaints about the result. South Park were sharper all over the pitch, and scored after 32 and 62 minutes through David Smith’s pair. A superb save by Paul Borg stopped Kieran Lavery making it worse. The margin should have been halved with the last kick of the game after but James McShane fluffed a penalty awarded for a foul on Luke Muldowney.
