Fifth after five games

CALOR LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL
EGHAM TOWN 2 (1 ) CHALFONT SP PETER O (0)

Egham Town scorers: Reis Stanislaus (18), Ryan O’Toole (72)

Reis Stanislaus and Ryan O’Toole scored the goals that secured this comfortable win over Chalfont St Peter on a night when they moved up to fifth in the fledgling Calor One Central table.
Egham boss Lee Passmore had to make changes for this game. In the FA Cup game at Shortwood United the team lost not only the match but also for a while the services of centre back Richie Byrne. With Arran Taylor-Ives still unfit, Chris Ellis coming off with a strain and Alex Rodrigues unavailable it was Jim Ward and newly acquired midfielder Kyle Anthony who manned central defence to hold onto a hard fought two goal lead.
Egham began at a very lively pace, Anthony coming close with a first minute header, and after 11 minutes Louis Chandler-Joseph whipping in a cross that Stanislaus headed, only to see the ball hit the inside of the left and then the right posts before being cleared. As at Shortwood Egham took the lead in the 18th minute when Stanislaus, not a usual free kick taker, saw his effort take just enough of a flick off a Saints defender to fool keeper Michael Power-Simpson. On the half hour O’Toole tested the keeper, while at the other end the only first half half- chance conceded was wasted by Scott Fitzgerald. Daniel Hughes’ cross shot had Egham goalie Gary Ross at full stretch nearer the break but the question over tea was could Egham build on their narrow lead?
Jake Galbraith’s supremely well timed tackle on Hughes after 53 minutes denied Saints, who were again thwarted by Ross kicking clear under threat from Romayne Walker. Jamie Houghton replaced Ellis and almost immediately played a delightful pass in for O’Toole, who left two men trailing but saw his shot blocked. He was not stopped for long, firing in a firm shot after excellent approach play by Stanislaus, muscling past a defender and pulling the ball back for the new striker’s first goal in Egham colours. He gave way with eleven to go to Jamie Read, who was not that far off with an injury time “keeper off his line – give it a go” forty yard snap shot.
EGHAM TOWN: Gary Ross, Josh Andrew, Jake Galbraith, Chris Ellis, Jim Ward, Kyle Anthony, Louis Chandler-Joseph, Patrick Craig, Reis Stanislaus, Ryan O’Toole, Jacob Lambe. Subs: Jamie Read (O’Toole, 79), Luke Muldowney, Luke Craig (Chandler-Joseph, 74), Brendan Matthew, Jamie Houghton (Ellis, 67).
