Ash undone by Marvell - again.

COMBINED COUNTIES LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
SATURDAY 31 MARCH 2012
ASH UNITED 1 (0) EGHAM TOWN 2 (0)

Dale Marvell should have no trouble remembering his games against Ash United this season. In the home game, Egham's first of this campaign, his hat-trick in a 3-2 win included two free kicks from outrageous distances and angles and at Youngs Drive he added another two, the second after seeing Asen Agov become the first keeper in 2011-12 to deny him from the penalty spot. His brace took Egham to 94 goals in the league, three behind their best CCL total of 97, which came two years ago. Five points from six games would post a CCL best but that cannot be taken for granted with a pair of games against Molesey and one at home on Bank Holiday Monday (11 a.m. Start) to second placed Windsor to come.
Against Ash the Sarnies were able to make a few alterations, Alex Rodrigues pairing up with skipper Aarron Taylor-Ives in the centre of defence while Luke Muldowney had a rest on the bench. Lee Pasmore was the one who moved from defence to midfield. The first half was poor, enlivened by Karl Dallaway forcing Egham keeper Paul Borg to make a fine save after ten minutes, after another ten Matt Grave's run and pass to Jamie Houghton ending with a shot dragged wide and with 33 minutes gone Grave shooting off target from Houghton's pass. Oh, and some tasty challenges from the home side and one from Houghton, which resulted in a caution.
The home side missed a glorious chance to open the scoring on 57 minutes with Borg caught out off position after a corner but Liam Pearson headed wide from 12 yards. A minute later Egham made them pay, with Mo Harkin breaking from midfield on a superb run before his angled shot drew from Asov an excellent save that fell at the feet of the inrushing Marvell for an emphatic finish. Grave was switched for Enrico Rossoni, the Italian almost immediately coming in for some robust challenges almost immediately. Harkin triggered the move that gave Egham a 2-0 lead, with a pinpoint ball for Marvell, who in turn found Tom Hedges on the right win. Hedges cut inside before being fouled in the act of shaping up for a shot, giving Marvell a chance from the spot, but Asov made a decent save. As with the first goal he could not clear his lines, and was not helped by some sleepwalking defenders, but Marvell was alert and rammed the ball home. Borg had to save a low, skidding shot from Robert Parrot before Alan Manning went over the top on Pasmore but only got a booking. Parrot lost out again to Borg with another shot, but this time from the corner Lee O'Donnell touched the ball in from six yards. The game ended with a little controversy as referee A Groves blew with only two minutes of injury time just as Manning went over the top on Pasmore again. No action was taken on the Ash player.
Egham go to Walton Road, Molesey on Saturday and as mentioned face Windsor at home on Easter Monday.
